Power Hour

Tai Chi
Level: No experience required, all are welcome!

A traditional martial art that emphasizes on slow, controlled and functional movement as well as focuses on deep breathing. This exercise class helps build balance, coordination and strengthen muscles to reduce the risk of falls.

Mat Pilates
Level: Beginner/Intermediate Friendly

A low-impact exercise class that focuses on controlled movement, core strength, posture, flexibility and body awareness. Mat Pilates helps build strength, improve mobility and balance and support confident, functional movement.

Exercise Programs
GLA:D - Hip & Knee Osteoarthritis Program
A 6-week program is designed to help individuals who have been diagnosed with hip and/or knee Osteoarthritis (OA). Individuals learn how to manage symptoms and improve mobility through evidence-based exercise, education on arthritis and joint health as well as self-management strategies.
The program focuses on these key areas:
- Leg exercises – increase strength of muscles around the affected joints.
- Core strength – promotes stability in the legs and supports proper movement patterns.
- Alignment strength – maintains correct joint positioning during movement.
- Functional exercises – improve physical abilities and support daily activities that are crucial for the individual.
GLA:D - Back Program
7 week supervised exercise program structured to help individuals with persistent or recurrent low back pain. The program emphasizes on self-management and empowerment. Helps you learn how to manage symptoms, improve function and mobility through evidence-based and clinical guideline-recommended exercises as well as education sessions.
The program includes 12 exercise sessions which focus on targeting back muscles, abdominals, glutes, flexibility and variety of movement to help with daily routines and/or activities. It also includes 2 education sessions regarding low back pain, how it is occurring, how to manage and self-management strategies.
Research have shown, those who have participated:
- Function – increased by 25%.
- Achieved Personal Goals – increased by 68%.
- Pain – decreased by 31%.
- Medication Use – reduced by 28%.
- Reduced Sick Leave.
BoneHealth Program
6 week exercise program specifically tailored for individuals who have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and Osteopenia. This program is helps reduce risk of falls and fracture risks. It also improves bone health/density, posture and balance.
Individuals will learn safe and progressive exercises to help with daily living activities and also learn spine sparing techniques.
The program focuses on these key exercises:
- Postural and Core Exercises – to keep you standing tall and stable.
- Resistance/Strength Exercises – to keep you strong and build bone density.
- Balance Exercises – help prevent and reduce risk of falls.
