Sports Medicine
Dr. Wes Clayden is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, where he completed his medical degree before advancing to the University of Toronto for his family medicine residency program. Following his family medicine residency, he undertook a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic. Dr. Clayden holds a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sports and Exercise Medicine and most recently earned distinction as a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Since 2016, Dr. Clayden has been a vital contributor to Sports Medicine in the Georgian Bay area, providing exceptional care in musculoskeletal health. His impressive experience includes serving as a team physician for the Canadian Junior Men’s National Basketball team, providing medical coverage for organizations such as the National Ballet of Canada and the National Basketball league and supporting the Western University varsity teams. He has also provided medical support during the ISU World Figure Skating Championship and FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Clayden holds academic appointments at both the University of Toronto and McMaster University. He is actively engaged in educating medical students and residents through their training. He has lectured at primary sports medicine conferences, serves as lead faculty and lecturer for the CASTED: Primary Care course, and is a medical editor of www.sportmedschool.com.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Clayden enjoys an active lifestyle that includes hiking, golfing, snowboarding, basketball, baseball, and weight training. Proudly calling Georgian Bay home, Dr. Clayden resides with his wife Krissy, 3 kids (Ellison, Bryce and Taryn) and dog (Bondi).
