  1. Hi Dr. Starr,

I hope all is well you are getting close to completing your flight training.

This past weekend the mountains outside Kelowna got 50cm of snow overnight. As you can imagine this made for a pretty epic powder day! It was definitely one of the best days I’ve ever had skiing, with seemingly endless pockets of waist deep powder.

As with any big powder day there are bound to be crashes. I landed a little too far forward after dropping off a cliff and as a result went tomahawking down the hill. After I stoped rolling, I got up, made sure I was completely fine, and kept on having an awesome day. My ability to ski away from the crash was a combination of two things: 1) There was a lot of snow to cushion the impacts and 2) The incredible work that you and Dr. Cheng did to get my knee strong and stable again.

You both were so incredibly supportive and helpful throughout the whole process. From the day after I crashed to the phone call where you told be I was able to ski again, I really couldn’t asked for a better team. I just really want to say thank you. Firstly, thank you for helping me get back to doing what I love. Thank you for being the incredible people that you are. And finally, thank you for doing your best to make sure that when I do crash my knee stays together.

I still owe you that bottle of Okanagan wine and this time I will make sure not to drop it in the airport terminal.

Thank you again for all that you do,
    Ben Hanson
